Volunteering

We value and appreciate the time our volunteers dedicate to support our school community to promote learning.  We offer volunteering opportunities over a minimum of a full term.

Volunteers listen to children read, assist with school activities, help out at the library, accompany children on school trips and to swimming lessons.

Our children’s safety and wellbeing is very important and all volunteers are expected to complete a DBS check before starting at the school.  If you have not been resident in the UK for the past 5 years you may also be asked to provide a certificate of good conduct from the country (or countries) where you resided.  We will also request volunteers provide information and contact details of two referees who can comment on volunteer’s suitability to work with children.  Volunteers are required to sign a Volunteer Agreement, which sets out school’s expectations and read following important school policies:

  • Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy
  • Keeping Children Safe in Education Part 1,
  • Behaviour Policy
  • Health and Safety Policy

If you volunteer in Nursery or Reception class you will be required to complete Childcare Disqualification Declaration Form.

We are always pleased to hear from potential volunteers.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at Sunnyhill Primary School, please email our Deputy Head Teacher for Inclusion, Claire Trewhella at ctrewhella@sunnyhill.lambeth.sch.uk .

Thank you for offering your time to help us in school!
