All parents and carers are equally valued as part of our school community. Children’s learning is improved when we work in partnership with their parents or carers, and their wider family. We therefore believe in close cooperation with all families.
As part of our Home-School Agreement, we have the expectation that our parents/carers will take up at least one offered Family learning session or course as part of supporting their children’s learning.
We see this as a way towards building lasting links between our school and our families. Sharing techniques and methods we use at Sunnyhill with you and vice versa.
There are a variety of learning opportunities on offer at Sunnyhill School throughout the year.
Some sessions are 2 hours long and are mostly presented by members of Sunnyhill staff. These sessions are mostly offered in Reading, Writing, Maths or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Some courses are 6-8 weeks in length and these are run by outside agencies, such as Morley College, independent tutors or parents.
We have planned out these opportunities throughout the academic year, giving parents enough time to allow for booking childcare or requesting time out of work well in advance.
We hope you will see these opportunities for what they are a real chance to get to know your child’s school, what they have to offer you and ways in which you can support your child’s learning at home.
