Balloon-ing around – Free drop in Age 5+  31st March – 9th April

From folding bicycles to electric cars, Londoners have been whizzing around the city in ever more creative ways. Put yourself into the shoes of an inventor and design a cool gadget to keep Londoners on the move in the future. What kind of futuristic transport would you invent? Learn how to make your inventions move using balloons and elastic bands. This is a drop-in workshop, so stop by anytime between 12.30-2pm, 2.30-4pm

.Storytelling Take a journey to the future. Free drop in for age 5+   31st  March – 6th April

One night a young girl dreams of a future where the London she knows has been badly damaged. Follow the little girl as she travels on her bed through a London ravished by pollution. Will her dream change how she feels about protecting the future of London? This story is an adaptation of Chris van Allsberg’s Just A Dream. This is a promenade performance through the galleries and will last about 30 minutes.

Consider a future London where everything is underwater. Build models, make collages or draw pictures to show what London might be like in this watery future. How will future Londoners adapt? This is a drop-in workshop so stop by anytime between 12.30-2pm or 2.30-4pm.

Be quick Nelly Free drop in age 5+  3 – 11 April 

Nelly Norris is the inventor of the moveable phone and other fantastic objects but she’s not very happy. She has spent years inventing things a week too late! Hear how Nelly has been losing out to things with the worst names and see if you can help her come up with a new idea? She’s determined to get in there first this time! Each performance is 30 minutes long.

The Chicks’ are on the loose in the Museum searching for the giant golden egg. Join the hunt to see if you can find the hidden egg and chick’s by following the trail around the Museum. Children can then get creative and become their favourite Easter animal by decorating a mask or finger puppet of their choice. There’s a chocolate egg for every child.

Easter is here and we are taking over the incredible POP Brixton for 3 hours of FREE family fun.

With areas to dance (obviously), practice your graffiti, or just chill and enjoy a drink and a spit of lunch this is the Hip Hop hot spot for you and your Notorious K.I.D.

FUN DMC founder and resident Spin Doctor is joined by his regular side kick Russ Ryan and FUN DMC resident dance instructor Tama as we get everyone up and dancing while running competitions to give away our legendary FUN DMC gold chains.

All adults must be accompanied by a responsible child.

Enjoy the Easter weekend at the Horniman with the whole family. Go on our Easter trail, create something crafty at our workshops, have your face painted and join in family activities across the gardens.  There will also be The Ugly Duckling Storytelling performances by Sandal Sticks Theatre at 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm. Pre-book for this – maximum 2 adults per child. Tickets £5.00 per child, £1.00 per adult.

Join us in the Hands on Base to meet the most unlikely duckling hero and hear the story of the duck who was different. This much loved classic tale has been adapted into an interactive storytelling performance for the Horniman by Sandal Sticks Theatre. Featuring song and puppetry, The Ugly Duckling is a heart-warming tale for all the family.

We’ve team up with the Lambeth branch of the National Autistic Society, for a day of activities in the Imagination Lab and the Engine Hall for children, adults, families, parents and professionals. If you are a Lambeth resident, you are eligible for free tickets. There will be sensory areas for children to play with texture, senses, nature and sound. There will also be a digital focus with robotics, virtual reality and coding activities. These activities are aimed at children with SEN and their siblings, so families can explore and play together. There will also be over 20 different stalls and activities to explore.
