Dance, Drama and Music at Sunnyhill: Spring 2016

This term, the Year 4’s had a great opportunity to learn about the Gamelan. The Gamelan is currently on loan from the Southbank Centre and we are really lucky to have it here at Sunnyhill!

The Year 4 classes learned how to play the different instruments in the Gamelan. They also learned about Javanese shadow puppetry and they worked together to write their own puppet shows to perform with the Gamelan music. The children worked really hard making puppets, working on their speaking voices, and learning music on the Gamelan to accompany their plays. You can watch their puppet shows here on the school website.

Children in Year 3 have begun learning to play the Ukulele. They are learning all about the different parts of the ukulele, the names of the strings, how to strum, and how to play a chord. They really enjoy playing songs together! Keep up the good work Year 3!

The KS1 and KS2 choirs also put on an unforgettable performance with the help of the Green Room Club at our Spring concert. Their music and poetry really got us ready for Spring to finally arrive! You can also watch their performance here on the website.

Well done to all!
